Sunday Canadian Corrie Comments, September 9

Tommy is so worried about Tyrone and really wants to help him. Tina knows the real Kirsty and is not keen on a reuniting at any price. But Tommy played on Marcus' sympathy as did the sight of Ty himself and Marcus told Tommy where Kirsty would be. A little sweet talk and guilt and Kirsty figured she'd give it another go but walked in on Tyrone chatting to another woman in the pub! He started to stand up to her, to call her on her stuff, but as always, in the end, he backs down like a submissive puppy. Tina can't stay away and goes round shouting the odds, sending Kirsty out the door and antagonizing Tyrone. You know, the more Tina does things like that, the more Kirsty is going to be suspicious of her, not that it takes much anyway. Ty manages to talk her down and Tina is horrified that Kirsty is back and lets it slip to Tommy about Kirsty's abuse. Oh boy. Can you say Slippery Slope?

What do you do when you know a friend is being abused and they aren't ready to leave or get help? It's a tough position to be in. You can say you'll be there no matter what, but they're embarassed and insisting it's going to be ok. As long as you tell them you'll be there, that's all you can do. Kirsty really isn't a bad person, she just needs help but she can't admit it and Tyrone is enabling her. In the meantime, he's chuffed as little mint balls that she's back and Tommy is horrified now that he knows the truth. Tina knows that they can't antagonize Kirsty because she'll take it out on Tyrone.

Tyrone scalds himself by his own clumsiness but Tina and Tommy don't believe it and Tommy lets Kirsty know he knows as well. Mortified much? You should be! Tommy's going about it the wrong way, telling Ty he's better off without Kirsty. Tina at least has a bit of tact. For the time being, it looks like the friendship is in dire straits.
Tyrone really bared his soul to Kirsty, how afraid he is, how confused over her behaviour and his life. He loves her, how can it be right and wrong? Yet she still can't bring herself to get help. You can tell what he said affected her. Down deep she knows there's a really big problem and her excuse du jour is that it's too late because everyone already knows. But that's exactly when she should go to see a councillor. Instead, she's really working on isolating him from his friends, insisting he shun them as friends, just when he needs them the most. He fired Tommy. Again, another illegal sacking. I don't think you can do that for those reasons. And how is Tommy going to pay Ty back if he's got not full time job?

Rob is still flirting with Stella while dating Eva. That's so wrong on so many levels. Rob decided to finish with Eva. He uses the excuse about her working there but he's just not that into her. Does he really think that because he's chucked Eva, that Stella will take him on? She may be flattered but she seems to have his measure. Anyone that flirts with his girlfriend's mother either before or after the breakup isn't trustworthy.

I absolutely loved Gail giving Paul a place to sleep, flirting with him and really really winding up Eileen! How fun was that! Kevin gave Paul a hard time for waking up Jack. Tit for tat and if the shoe was on the other foot and Kevin was trying to sleep, he'd sure be whining loudly about it. Loved David scaring Paul awake by hollering Fire! Paul wouldn't admit he was at Gail's but Eileen already knew and busted him. She can't order him not to do it again, he needs his sleep. Eileen go so fed up that she suited up and helped Kevin with the work so it would be done sooner and she'd have Paul out of Gail's man hungry clutches.

Owen is happy to have Chesney on his side against the surrogacy but got a shock when Chesney and Katy stuck together and he supported her decision. Kevin advised Owen not to mess up his relationship with Anna, probably right, too. Your kids are going to do what they want now they're grown and you can't stop them if they really want it. Best focus on your own life, mate. He managed to salvage that at least. That's the best way to handle it, voice your frustrations to her and not to the kids who aren't going to listen anyway. He did admit his failings to the girls, too and they appreciated it.

The intrepid four take their first steps toward surrogacy and man there's a lot to be considered. Chesney seems to be more reluctant, still not really buying into all this. Does anyone think this isn't going to happen? As much as i like the actors involved, the storyline is a bit much what with Katy being so young and Izzy jumping right into this minutes after she's misscarried.

Steve is suddenly jealous of Michelle and Rob's long time friendship and close working relationship. He thinks Rob will wear down Michelle's defences eventually. Someone remind him again who he's living with all loved up? But if Steve can shoot himself in the foot, he usually does. Steve moved in with Michelle to help support her and Ryan who's struggling with his addiction so what does Steve do the first chance he gets? Dump Ryan for Michelle because of that jealousy. Instead of going to a gig he'd invited Ryan to, he crashes Michelle and Rob's meeting at the Bistro and makes a right tit of himself. Ryan sold the tickets to Sophie.

So there's Steve haunting the Bistro hoping to interrupt Rob and Michelle. Rob keeps blaming Ryan for the lost deal but it wasn't really his fault. It was a pure accident. Laughed at Steve ordering all healthy stuff off the menu but Michelle was so busy arguing with Rob that she didn't notice. He wasn't unhappy when Rob flounced off in a strop after which Steve changed his order to his usual pint and fatty foods! He admitted his jealousy and Michelle reassured him.

Sunita took Karl to the Rovers to show him off and rub Stella's face in it. I don't know if she knew Dev would be there but she knew he had a date. A date, mind you, that he didn't have when she asked. He picked up the cashier from the Cash and Carry! Maybe she figured the odds were good. Dev had two young women since one brought the other as her wing-woman and they all showed off for each other and made right idiots of themselves acting like they were 14 years old. Sheesh. Dev still likes to think of himself as a suave man about town. He's middle aged and desperately chatting up women his daughter's age. Stella criticized Sunita and gave Dev a shoulder to cry on but something was missing. She didn't take him in the back room!!!

Sunita's turning into a nag isn't she? But he's just sitting around not trying overly hard to get a job either. Now Karl has a scheme to make money. 250 smoke detectors made in China he got off his mate. Yeah, that sounds good. I don't think. Karl puts the guilt trip on Sunita to try to get the money from her to pay for the smoke detectors. Because Dev ticked off Sunita by spending money on himself and the kids while she struggles to amke ends meet, she decided to take the money out of their joint account and invest. History proves that anyone that thinks they can do well on a deal like this ends up in worse shape. Remember Chesney and Gary and the shedding Christmas trees?

Jason finds out that he's got a lot more in common with Aidan than he thought (does anyone think that Marcus and Aiden have any chemistry whatsoever because I don't). The dvd night turned out better than Jason thought, because Aiden likes the same kind of movies he does, rather than the chick flicks that Marcus likes. But the lads fell asleep so Jason and Maria got to see Mamma Mia after all!

Rob has a new suit and is it my imagination or does he have a slightly better haircut? He's taking to the busines management like a duck to water, isn't he? Rob ended up with coffee all over him thanks to Ryan. Aagh! The presentation didn't go well because Rob looked highly unprofessional.

Oh There's Audrey and Lewis! Not seen them for awhile. And he's still as romantic and smooth as ever, suggesting a night in a country hotel. Except it didn't happen because Nick was late. Dev got the girls a cab to Bessie Street. Isn't that just around the corner pretty much?

Loved: - the little conversation about the cappucino and piazza with a duomo, later to come full circle when Ryan said "ciao" to Roy who answered "Grazie!"
- Steve sucking in his gut, doing stomach "exercises".
